New Need

With this new job (and definitely additional income), my mind is now on the go as to what we can do with the money that I can earn and save. Initially we thought of having the house renovated little by little (and that probably includes installing vessel sinks). But as the days go on, I reckon we would have to postpone that to make way for my need of an additional vehicle as my job does entail a bit of road travel, traversing from client to office to doctors' offices and the like. I've never really bought a car of my own so this is as exciting as getting that first job offer. *happy dance*

Being Sane

Thank God for child care services! All I can say is that we are so lucky to have these services available to us so we stay-at-home moms can eventually find work and be productive members of society.

To be honest, for a while there, I reckon I may have been on the brink of depression. I do have friends and in-laws around. But they are all at work and we really only see them on special occasions. There's nothing like having another adult to talk in confidence, whether it's relaxing with them on your outdoor furniture or having a cup of coffee in the mall.

So while I get the separation anxieties from leaving Erin with a carer, I am also happy at the same time for myself because I get to be a sane person again.

An Excuse

Did you know that my wardrobe is mainly filled with casual clothes? I suppose it is not surprising as I have been a stay-at-home mum for almost three years now. Plus at my previous employer's, my work was mostly in the hospital so we only wore scrub suits. That certainly does not help add to my wardrobe.

But now that my new job is out of the clinics and is office based, I am faced with only a handful of items that I can use. I need to SHOP! I am definitely complaining. LOL. It just gives me an excuse to do the one thing that most females love doing. I just need to find items that are on sale so I can maximise my moolah on that. Ah yes, mall here I come! :)

Meme Time

You Are an SUV

You're the type of person who wants to have it all in life. You don't like making compromises. You want adventure and fun, but you also want comfort and luxury. You are a bit decadent and vain. You will treat yourself to something nice, even if others think it's over the top. You go for whatever you want in life. You are a high achiever, and you never like hearing "no."

Need I say more? LOL. That is just spot on! Speaking of cars, we really may have to get another one because of the nature of my job. And since hubby's office and mine are located in very different areas, I need a car for myself just in case an emergency arises (God forbid!) or if I need to pick up Erin myself. So I really need to pass that exam with flying colors. Let's hope I really do. *fingers crossed*

More News

Before I go off and check out information on conversion rate optimization, I'd like to share the good news with all of you.

I was offered the job I was talking about earlier, and I start working part-time in May. Fortunately, we were able to find a carer for Erin (who was also a Filipina), so I accepted the offer given by the branch manager. While I am all happy about it, when I think about seeing Erin go into daycare for 9.5 hours 2-3x a week, I get a wee bit sad. As early as now, I am missing her already and I am just overwhelmed with emotions everytime I look at her. I guess I am the one with separation anxiety issues not Erin as she seemed calm and relaxed when we met with the carer earlier today. I guess I just try to see it in a more positive light, that Erin needs it as well for socialization.

Anyway, we will the make the most of our remaining fulltime days together. We are planning to go to the zoo tomorrow so she can see the animals. She loves animals. I think all kids do. So with that I bid you guys adieu for now. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

PS: Sorry no photo meme entries again this week. I didn't have the time to take any pictures as was terribly busy with that job application. I'll try next week.

Updates on me

I don't know if you happen to read my other blog, but I just landed my first real job interview for an OT position after so many years. I have been out of the rat race for almost 4 years now since I got married, and it is good to be (sort of) back. It's just a part-time position I applied for but eventually I hope I will be able to get into full time work as well. It just feels great to be able to put myself out there in the market again.

If all goes well, I reckon we will be able to do more financially, and that includes securing a good future for Erin. I am keen on getting a life insurance quote when we are more financially able, just to name one.

And one more thing, I am planning to take my driving exam to finally get a full license. This only translates for more independence for me, and not having to rely always on hubby when I need to get out of the house.

Well, the world is my oyster now, and I am so looking forward to what it holds for me.

My Two Year Old

Before I surf the net for a KVM switch, I thought I'd share with you this information I was reading on BabyCenter about my little two-year-old.

Your life now
If you're feeling like the clutter around your house is growing right along with your child, you're not alone. Not only do preschoolers continue to acquire toys at an alarming rate, but more and more they — blocks, puzzles, car collections — come with multiple parts, which preschoolers love to dump out and mix up. Individual bins for each type of toy help keep things organized. (Empty diaper-wipe boxes are an inexpensive way to keep track of smaller parts.) Save yourself clean-up time by putting out only one or two bins of toys at a time. This keeps the toys more interesting — and the floor tidier, too.

LOL. This is so spot on! Yes, our house is a mess when Erin goes through her stuff. She's like a mini tornado flitting here and there, leaving her mark as she goes along. And I'm such a neat freak, it irritates me! But there's nothing I can do about it as apparently it is a stage all toddlers go through. But even so, after playtime I let Erin clean it up herself, to which on most occasions, she willingly obliges! Thank you Lord! :D

No Pics

Sorry, guys, no pics for this weekend from me. I am taking a break from the memes, as it is a long holiday here.

I'll try to do some catch up soon as everything is back to normal. Hope you all have a wonderful Easter weekend as well! :)

Updates on the little girl

I am starting to toilet train Erin since she turned two last month. Not much success yet though we were able to pee once and poo twice in the toilet. Other than that, it's still the old reliable nappy for us. She is so very cooperative though, as she can just sit on the toilet for long periods while we wait for her to go. But I guess in order for us to be more successful, I reckon we must have a schedule to keep so that some sort of routine may be established. Ah yes, what a challenge!

Last night alone, we had one accident and she peed in the living room. Thank God we have tiles instead of carpet in our lounge! I've also noticed that she was scared of doing a pee without her nappy on. I think she felt out of control and was frightened about this liquid coming out of her, with nothing to catch it with. She was apparently holding her pee back because of this, and we all know that's not a good thing. All I could do was reassure her until she finally let go.

Things like these help me to learn about the little girl more. And I am so enjoying it! As fast as the leaves on the trees are turning red and gold, this bubba of mine is finally becoming a kid. Yes, time truly flies.

Toy Hunt: Green Toys

This week's theme was fairly easy. And these are the stuff which I was able to dig up from Erin's crate of toys.

A rake from her gardening tools play set, a hammer from her Fisher Price toolbench, and of course another one of her rubber duckies.

Thanks for looking! Find more toys here.

Mommy Moments: Special Day

I haven't been joining MM because of my recent crazy schedule, but now I am back. And before I forget and go off running to surf more on a certain diet pill, here is my entry for this week. With today's theme, I am posting pictures during the little girl's baptism.

Erin was such a screamer when she was an infant. And yes, of all days, she chose to scream throughout her baptism ceremony, even louder than the poor priest's voice who was already speaking on the microphone. Here she is making a fuss while water was poured on her head.

Oh yes, truly scandalous as we were not the only family there whose baby was being baptised. There were three others. After the ceremony though, she was a happy bub, and liked being passed around like a parcel among the guests.

But I guess all that celebrating was too much for a two-month old baby. She was out like a light even before we got home from the party.

Thanks for looking! See more Mommy Moments here.
