Apart from the usual terrible two's antics that Erin is now exhibiting, she's also become a picky eater. I reckon it's more her lacking appetite for eating rather than being choosy in the food that she eats. I'm also thinking that she is also sick and tired of our menu and that maybe it's time I revise it so she can try some new things.
While that's all in the brainstorming stage, we're trying to give her some nutritional health supplements, which I think is quite helpful for kids with this sort of problem. It seems that it helps improve her appetite to some extent, and that for us is sometimes enough -- just to see her eating as much as we would like her. I really do hope it is just a phase and one that she will soon outgrow.

On Language Stimulation
A relative came up to me asking about his son who seems to have a bit of delay in his communication skills. Having worked with pediatric speech pathologists before, I learned to help improve this problem area using several techniques. There are also lots of resources on the 'net to help parents take the initiative and help their children if they suspect a delay in language acquisition.
Here are a couple of articles which I would recommend for parents to read up on. Make sure those led light bulbs are on full blast so you can absorb all that information! :)

Trying Hard
Before checking out this video card online, I took this little quiz out of curiosity.
You're Pretty Fit
You are fitter than most people but likely not as fit as you want to be. You do your best to work out, but you probably don't do it as much as you like. Maybe you need to do mini-workouts throughout the day to fit in exercise. Or maybe you need a whole new activity to motivate you. No matter what, you should get moving!
I was surprised with the results. I am walking three times a week now and do a bit of exercise when I'm not working, but I didn't realise I'd be "pretty fit." I know I still need more to work on as I can be overly critical of myself. Ah yes, the perfectionist in me! LOL.
Now I've got to read back on those exercise articles I've posted here to get me back on track.

Still Getting the Hang of It
Now that I am a part-time working mom, it's been a difficult transition for me, trying to balance my home life and work all together. It's still a struggle, to be honest, to the point that sometimes I just end up terribly drained of all energy at the end of the day, which is really the main reason why I have not been able to blog as much as I used to. You win some, you lose some.
On the positive though, nothing beats going out into the world and meeting new people, and getting different challenges at work along the way. As I am commuting now via public transport, I get to be more active at least three times a week, even if it is just worth 30 minutes of walking. So I guess that phenphedrine review should be crossed out on my reading list for now.

Mother's Day
Happy Mother's Day to all the mommies out there!!! :)
Nothing special planned for our family today, except we might be going out later for a nice lunch. I wish it was something as grand as having reservations at Westgate and getting away for the weekend. But we are just not big on those things.
Anyway, I guess the highlight of this mother's day weekend was receiving a little artwork from my little girl. She had her hands printed with paint on a paper with a poem on it. At first, I wasn't quite sure what was on the paper as it was wrapped in cellophane and had a ribbon attached to it. Then she was telling me "Hands Erin! Hands!" Then it hit me when I saw her little handprints in the artwork. Pretty sweet! I am so proud of her! I will definitely be bringing it to the office to show it off. :)

Long Week
It's been pretty busy. And my head has been spinning ever since I've put in more hours at work. I can imagine more so in the coming week as I will be working three days effective Wednesday.
I am a bit behind in my chores. Need to do major cleaning of the house, do some laundry and ironing as well. It is just overwhelming. Plus it is not helping that I found myself terribly drained this weekend. I just didn't have the energy and my body was aching all over. J says I am not used to the mental stress that work brings, hence such an effect. Well, I hope things get better soon. I can't be like this forever.

Erin's Reaction
One of the baby announcements we were waiting for was the one of an extended family member's who is also based here in Canberra. After weeks of waiting, she finally gave birth and we came to the hospital for a visit.
I would have thought Erin would be all over the baby since she seems very interested in other kids. But surprisingly enough, when she saw the baby crying, she froze in her tracks, and did not want to be anywhere near her. And if we forced her to come closer, she would cry and struggle to break away. Weird!
I guess that now sort of gave us a peek as to how she will be if and when she gets a new sibling. But then again, it could be just that it was all new to her and was not ready for such a thing. Maybe if she got used to the idea of being pregnant and all, she will eventually be ready and psyched for the new baby's arrival. Certainly something to take note of when that day comes for us.

Bear with me
Look who's been terribly busy! Gosh, two weeks and not even one post. Ah yes, that is because I finally started work last Friday. It's been overwhelming as I have a lot information to absorb and everything is new to me because I am on the other end of the spectrum now, and not really treating patients directly. It's going to be one helluva learning experience alright. So please bear with me as I try to get adjusted with my new schedule. Hopefully, I will be able to get back into the swing of things, though not as a frequent blogger anymore, but still present.
